How, What, and Why
Do you know how you learn? Do you know how your children learn? Some of us know what we are supposed to learn in school because the teacher tells us and we get tested on it. Often we do not know why we are supposed to learn something, aside from the teacher or the school telling us that we are supposed to know it.All three of these are important, but in order to learn the ‘what’, we must first learn the ‘how’. That is where we come in. We truly believe that how a person learns is the foundation of learning, and that is what we offer our clients. In addition, this website will continually be updated with articles, links, and resources to help parents and students drive their own learning. After all, who better to be in charge of your learning, than you!
When our Learning Partners are matched with clients/students, it is done based upon a few, thoughtfully considered criteria. First, we want the Learning Partner to live a reasonable distance from the client so that commuting is easy and traffic and other difficulties that might make the Partner late are minimized. Second, the match is made by the subject. If you need a math tutor, you will get a Partner who has strong math skills. Third, we match according to gender or age if that is important to the client. Fourth, and most important is the learning teaching style match.
Our Learning Partners are able to tutor all learning styles, but we try to assure a good, strong match. For example, if the student is a kinesthetic learner and learns best by participating in an activity, the Learning Partner will have a strong background in how to teach the student to work to that strength.
We specialize in how you learn. We help with the ‘what’ and the ‘why’, but we believe the ‘how’ is important, and we will teach you how to understand and best use your strengths. We also incorporate critical thinking and study skills, which are vital to learning.
Do not think of us simply as homework help. Think of us as foundation builders who will give you a lifelong skill that will empower you to learn!
